Vintage Nursing Cap Cake

My pal, Ansley, just graduated from nursing school. I made this old-school nursing cap cake for her graduation party.

The inside was yellow cake with chocolate icing (Ansley’s favorite) and I covered it in white Satin Ice fondant. I used the pre-dyed red fondant from Satin Ice to make the cross and cut out the letters. Everyone loved it!

First Communion Cake

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of making a cake for Sarah Paige to celebrate her First Communion.

Simple Buttercream Wedding Cake with Olive Leaves

I made this wedding cake for Angie and Jon. They chose to have a simple, natural wedding. The olive leaves were the perfect addition to the cake.

Their wedding was at Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park. If you’re looking for a venue, check it out — it’s gorgeous!

An Elegant Cake For A Wedding Shower

Over the summer, we held a fundraiser for my sister-in-law, Megan.  Megan is on the US Olympic Bobseld team and is hoping to compete in the winter Olympics.  Sadly, bobsledding is a blue collar support and requires her to come up with most of the money for her training, travel, equipment, etc.  I donated a gift certificate for a cake to the fundraiser and the lucky winner redeemed it over the weekend.

She was looking for an elegant cake for a wedding shower.  This is what I came up with:

Here’s a close up of the lace and flowers:

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Party

I had the pleasure of making an adorable smash cake for a first birthday party this weekend.

I iced the cake with buttercream and then added fondant accents.  For the colors, I used the pre-colored Satin Ice fondant in red and black.  I tinted ivory Satin Ice with Wilton Golden Yellow and Sky Blue.  I love the way this one turned out.
