I’ll be honest, photography isn’t my thing. I’m a cake maker, not a photographer. When I see professional pictures of my cakes, I’m usually floored. Here’s a REAL photo from Danielle and Lionel’s wedding:
I love this so much that I didn’t want to ruin it with my watermark. If you’re in need of a wedding photographer, you should totally call Christy. She’s so talented!
Amy Gerber says
how did you do the gold edge on the ruffle?
rachmakescakes says
Hi Amy,
Those ruffles are actually fondant (with a little Tylose powder kneaded in). To get the gold on the edge, I wait until the ruffles are dry enough to touch, usually the next day. Next, I dip a tooth pick in my gold airbrush paint and lightly drag the tooth pick along the edge of the ruffle. It picks up just a hint of the gold without leaving a heavy line.
Unfortunately I’m not sure if you could achieve the same look with a buttercream ruffle. You could try painting a gold stripe inside your piping bag before filling it with icing, but I don’t know how accurate that would be.
Sorry I can’t give you any more help than that. Thanks for checking out my cakes!
